Making products that celebrate creativity
Two Girls Co is a small design business/side project my wife and I started in 2017.
We produce and sell design accessories on Etsy. We combined our design skills to launch our first product, the ‘Designers Rule’ pin in August 2017. Since then, it has been featured on a variety of internationally-renowned blogs (Design milk, Creative Boom and Inky Goodness), which led to the pins finding their way to all corners of the globe, including USA, Lebanon, Brazil, Japan, China and Australia. We’ve been collecting a number of enamel pins ourselves and thought this would be an affordable way to start a product range. We wanted to create something that was fun but also useful. The pin itself is to scale, so can be used to measure things everywhere you go (so long as it’s really small).
Since then we have launched a number of products including stickers, keyrings, tote bags, coasters, more pins and a clock!
In January 2018 we launched a limited edition black ‘Designers Rule’ pin. With Design & Technology GCSE being axed from nearly half of UK secondary schools, we’re extremely concerned for the future of the design industry. Therefore we wanted to play a small part in helping schools to teach the importance of design. £2 from the sale of these limited edition pins were gifted to schools in the form of design materials. We delivered ‘Design Aid’ boxes to 10 local schools, which included a range of stationery and books. We received some lovely messages from the schools who were incredibly pleased with their boxes.
Whilst we were busy promoting the limited edition pin we were approached by the organiser of Birmingham Design Festival to give a talk at the festival in June 2018. We were both excited and honoured to be part of it, in it’s first year of fruition.
